The members of the Heritage Quilters Guild of South Suburbia enjoyed a festive celebration for their 40th anniversary at the annual June Pot Luck with a delicious meal catered by Jimboo's of Thornton, IL. Members watched slide shows highlighting the history of the guild, the 40th anniversary challenge quilts had a special Show N Tell, cake was served and Left, Right, Center played with fabric squares. Three founding members attended the evening.
Friendship Star
Since 1982 when South Suburban College professor Mary Jane Carlson organized over 80 women at what would become the Heritage Quilters of South Suburbia, members have been dedicated to preserving and advancing the art of quilt making. Quilt making is an art that encourages individualism, creativity, knowledge and enthusiasm in sharing with others.
Members will be asked to bring 5 by 5 squares to exchange. Members will be experimenting with a variety of patterns that exclusively use 5 by 5 squares at the workshop the next day. Have fun being a square!
