The members of the Heritage Quilters Guild of South Suburbia enjoyed a festive celebration for their 40th anniversary at the annual June Pot Luck with a delicious meal catered by Jimboo's of Thornton, IL. Members watched slide shows highlighting the history of the guild, the 40th anniversary challenge quilts had a special Show N Tell, cake was served and Left, Right, Center played with fabric squares. Three founding members attended the evening.
Friendship Star
Since 1982 when South Suburban College professor Mary Jane Carlson organized over 80 women at what would become the Heritage Quilters of South Suburbia, members have been dedicated to preserving and advancing the art of quilt making. Quilt making is an art that encourages individualism, creativity, knowledge and enthusiasm in sharing with others.
2023 Opportunity Quilt
Our 2023 Opportunity Quilt is the 2014 Edyta Sitar sampler. Crafted in her original fabrics, it is a very traditional design in classic blues and whites. Tickets are on sale. Every guild member takes the responsibility of selling a book of raffle tickets. Members volunteer to take the quilt to stores and guilds to display and sell tickets.
The All Illinois Quilt Shop Hop is back for another year from Aug. 1 to Sept. 30. The statewide hop showcases regional quilt shops for the many quilters of the state and region. Click the link above for more info.
