Meeting Activities

Sewing Bee

Starts before each meeting at 5pm. Members can bring their machines and any of their projects to work on. Free sewing time with other like minded quilters.

Accuquilt

The guild has an Accuquilt machine available for members to use. Click on the title above or this text to see our list of dies. Please contact Reba or Dawn if you would like to use it during the Sewing bee.

Door Prizes

There are door prize drawings at each guild meeting. All members are eligible for the door prize drawing if they are wearing their member’s badge and/or name tag. One prize per member per year.

Programs

Each month a new program is presented to expand our opportunity to use our creativity and skills in new ways. If you have something you want to present to the members at a meeting, please contact the the program chairman.

Show & Tell

Members may bring their projects to share with the guild. We love to see what everyone has been working on.

Resale Table

Members can collect their unwanted books and patterns, label them with your name, and a price and bring them to the guild meetings for sale. Money for their sale will be given to you by the chairperson.

Raffles

Our special events committee create raffle baskets or bring in other items throughout the year for fund raisers. There are quilting baskets, seasonal baskets and other fun items raffled off. They are very creative, never know what they will come up with.

Free Table

Members can bring items they wish to pass on to a good home. Any item that you have no use for can be put on the Free table. At the end of the meeting, anything left is donated to a worthy cause.

Block of the Month (BOM)

A new block pattern is selected each month. Members are encouraged to make as many as you'd like. When you bring your blocks at the next meeting, your name goes into the bucket for each block you made. A winner is drawn who gets all the blocks to make a quilt.

Special Activities

Modern Quilt Bee

A subgroup of the guild members get together on the first Saturday of the month at a local quilt shop. They work on modern quilt project ideas and challenges.

Workshops

Hands on workshops are held to teach us new techniques or patterns. Workshops are scheduled based on the availability of the speaker and church hall schedules.

Opportunity Quilt

Our guild creates a beautiful quilt for which we sell tickets so that others can win the wonderful quilt. Proceeds support program speaker fees and other guild activities. Tickets are for sale at all meetings and other events.

service

Providing comfort or basic necessities to those in need is an ongoing project for our members. Quilts, duffel bags, pillow cases, dog beds and other items are donated continuously to area community services.

Outreach

Heritage Festival

South Holland Heritage Festival is held on Labor Day at Paarlberg Farm. It is an annual event where we display and sell quilts and other items. We create a special quilt to raffle off that day to benefit the South Holland Historical Society.

organizations

We love to visit other guilds, libraries, and community groups to share our love of quilting and its heritage. Members share their knowledge, creativity and joy of quilting. Quilting is an art, using fabric and design as it's paint brush. Let us show you it's beauty!
